Jim: Workout Planner ("Jim", "we") is an iPhone app that builds training plans and keeps your workout log. This policy says exactly what data Jim handles, why, which services process it, and how you can take it with you or delete it. It is written to match what the app actually does today. If the app changes, this page changes with it.
What Jim collects
Your account. When you sign in with email, we hold your email address. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email those services give us. With Apple you can hide your email, in which case we only ever see the relay address Apple provides. If you share your name, Jim keeps it to greet you and to show your crew. You also pick an avatar from a set of illustrations. Jim never stores a password: sign-in is by a one-time emailed code, or by Apple or Google.
Your training. Everything you enter to get and follow a plan: your goal, experience level, how many days you train, how long a session should be, the equipment you have, and any body areas you ask Jim to work around. Then the plans themselves, the workouts in them, the sets, reps and weights you log, rest days you mark, workouts and exercises you save, and body weight entries you choose to record.
Your crew. If you create or join a crew, Jim stores the crew's name and who is in it, the kudos you send, and shows the other members your name, your avatar, the days you trained this week and your session count. That is the point of a crew, and it is visible only to members.
Shares. When you share a workout, Jim creates a code. Anyone with that code can view that one workout and add it to their own account.
Diagnostics. If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a report is sent automatically. It contains the error, your device model, iOS version, app version and your account identifier so we can group reports. It never contains your email or your training data.
Server logs. Like any web service, our server records the IP address and timing of requests for a short period, to keep the service running and to protect it from abuse.
Apple Health is optional. If you connect it, Jim writes the workouts you finish to Health so they count toward your rings, and reads your most recent body weight only to estimate a workout's energy. That data stays on your iPhone; none of it is sent to us. Jim does not use your location, and does not access your contacts, photos or camera.
How Jim uses it
- To build your plan, keep your log and sync it when you sign in on another phone.
- To run crews and shares, which only work by showing your training to the people you chose.
- To sign you in and email you a code when you ask for one.
- To find and fix crashes.
- To answer you when you write to support.
That is the whole list. Jim has no advertising, no analytics, and does not use your data to train any model.
Plans are generated with AI
When Jim builds or rebuilds a plan, it sends your training preferences (goal, experience, days, session length, equipment, areas to work around) together with Jim's own exercise catalogue to an AI provider, which returns the plan. Your name, email and logged history are not part of that request. If the provider is unavailable, Jim builds the plan from its own rules instead.
Who processes it
Jim runs on a small number of services. Each one only receives what it needs for its job.
| Service | What it does | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in and the database | Your account and all of your training data |
| Render | Hosts Jim's server | Requests in transit and short-lived server logs |
| Groq | Generates plans | Training preferences for one request at a time |
| Sentry | Crash reports | Error reports with your account identifier, no email |
| Resend | Sends sign-in code emails | Your email address and delivery status |
| Cloudflare | This website and the support inbox | Email you send to support |
| Expo | Delivers app updates | Your device's update requests |
| Apple, Google | Sign-in, when you choose them | As described in their own policies |
| Apple Health | Optional, on your iPhone | Workouts Jim writes; your body weight, read for the estimate. Never reaches our servers |
These services store data primarily in the United States. We do not share your data with anyone else, and we do not sell it.
How long it is kept
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, everything above is deleted from our database immediately and your sign-in identity is removed. Provider backups roll off within 30 days and crash reports expire within 90 days. Emails you send to support stay in the support inbox.
Your controls
- Export. Profile → Export my data gives you everything as a single JSON file.
- Delete. Profile → Delete account removes your account and all of its data. This works for every sign-in method, including Apple with a hidden email.
- Edit. Your name, avatar, goal, equipment and other preferences can be changed in Profile at any time.
- Leave a crew at any time from the crew screen; your training stops being visible to its members.
- Ask us. For anything else, including a copy of your data if you cannot open the app, email support@jimplanner.app.
Children
Jim is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold data about them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic between the app and our services is encrypted. Sign-in tokens are stored in the iPhone's secure storage. Jim holds no passwords. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you the next time you open it, and the date at the top of this page will change. Smaller edits, such as adding a service that does the same job as one listed here, update the page without notice.
